The UX/Web Designer is expected to deliver fantastic User Experiences for multiple applications within NRT.  This person must be able to articulate and communicate research strategy and insights to teammates, business partners and senior leadership to guide the company in creating world-class User Interfaces that are simple, consistent and drive business results. The role must drive innovation by applying contemporary user-centered design methodologies to exceed expectations and delight the end user.  As well, this person will work with multiple business constituents in a fast-paced innovative IT development environment sharing their expertise and promoting a community of cooperation, best practices and continual improvement. This role will be filled in the Madison office and will be the onsite Designer for the work that is done there.  The rest of the UI/UX team resides in MN, at this point in time.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Help define and set expectations for the role of UX Research & Insights in the product development life cycle.
  • Lead the design of useful, usable, and desirable systems and products for end consumers and sales agents.  This includes working closely with product managers, web developers, and engineers to realize the design.
  • Responsible for creating design solutions that have a high visual impact.
  • Apply User Interface design principles in creating, intuitive and engaging designs
  • Plan and propose innovative solutions for a wide variety of user experience challenges including, but not limited to: mobile web, desktop web, and native apps
  • Use user data, analytics and business requirements to assist in developing use stories and high-level requirements.
  • Participate in A/B testing strategies, implementation, and analysis.
  • Conduct user testing and research.
  • Provide art direction and/or define the visual language for NRT web and software applications.
  • Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications.
  • Produce mockups, wireframes, and templates to communicate design requirements.
  • Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and NRT executives for review and feedback.
  • Contribute to the group’s shared knowledge of user-centered design and research methodologies.
  • Drive user research activities enabling NRT to build a deep and rich understand of our users.
  • Work closely with the software engineers to champion design at every step
  • Listen to clients and understand their needs before making design decisions.
  • Knowledge of industry standard graphics design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Participate in all stages of the Web development life cycle from initial concept, gathering requirements, and conducting stakeholder interviews to design, development, and deployment.
  • Effectively communicate with users, both internal and external, at all levels from the basic user to the executive leadership.
  • Collaborate across other business segments to ensure a single strategy around user experience, brand and front-end components.
  • Look for opportunities to share expertise, mentor and promote greater understanding of UX within greater organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI) or 5-8 years equivalent professional experience designing customer-facing websites and working with external customers
  • Deep portfolio of exceptional work showcasing research and insights projects that resulted in measurable improvements and innovation in the digital and mobile space.
  • 3+ years creating low/high fidelity mockup and comps.
  • 1+ experience working with agile development groups and an understanding of agile methodologies.
  • 1+ year experience performing user testing (UserTesting.com a plus).

     

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep portfolio of exceptional work showcasing research and insights projects that resulted in measurable improvements and innovation in the digital and mobile space.
  • Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles.
  • Skilled communicator who can influence key stakeholders and senior management
  • Talented mentor who can grow knowledge and skills across the research practice
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Analytics, Optimizely.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in agile mode delivering high quality visuals iteratively and rapidly
  • Experience with Cloud Infrastructure (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure) is preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven track record of setting and meeting expectations, providing leadership, collaborating across disciplines, and overcoming roadblocks.
  • Detail-oriented nature that provides the ability to track, organize and prioritize multiple concurrent projects while maintaining a service-centered focus
  • Knowledge of industry standard graphics design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, InVision, and other wire-framing tools
