Realogy is looking for a Vice President of External Communications to join our team based in Madison, NJ.

As the VP of External Communications, you’ll report to the Chief Financial Officer. In this position, you will play a key role in driving the development and deployment of a world-class enterprise communications plan that clearly articulates the vision for Realogy’s new strategic direction, as well as its strong financial characteristics and how it compares to established and emerging competitors and disrupters. You will lead the external communications efforts that will be to develop and execute public relations and media programs to gain positive consumer, shareholder and industry and financial media coverage for Realogy and its brands.



  • Develop innovative and strategic solutions to external corporate communication challenges to ensure key messages are effectively shared with external audiences across a multi-brand organization.
  • Provide communications counsel and support to C-suite and functional leaders, with the goal of supporting the company’s growth strategy and building public understanding/perception of the residential real estate leader while improving the external brand and reputation of the company.
  • Oversee the communications team responsible for managing the company website, enhancing corporate branding, special projects and events.


You possess…

  • Stellar writing, editing and verbal communication skills with a passion for editorial excellence.
  • Strong presentation skills, exhibiting a highly professional presence.
  • The ability to think strategically while executing tactically in support of the company’s objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects; and, adjusting priorities in a fast-moving, pressure-driven business environment.
  • Collaborative leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to work creatively with and build and maintain cross-functional relationships while bringing together different teams and projects.
  • Strong experience working directly with C-suite level executives on strategic communications.
  • An understanding of contemporary communication media, and experience in utilizing them effectively.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office Suite along with the ability to master new content management software.


The VP of External Communications will be responsible for…

  • Determining appropriate communication channels to support the vision and future state of the organization.
  • Developing and driving social media strategy for the organization.
  • Coordinating with key business unit leaders on strategies for communicating specific business information;  ensure that messaging aligns with overall company objectives and direction.
  • Ensuring key components of enterprise external communication strategy appeal to diverse and traditional audiences.
  • Serving as public relations, strategic and crisis communications counsel in support of brand and business unit communication teams.
  • Preparing C-suite spokespeople for media interviews with national, regional and local media outlets to deliver high-profile executive communications.
  • Working with media outlets to publish timely company information.
  • Ensuring external communication strategy is consistent and reflects the organization’s strategic vision.
  • Refining core messaging to ensure organizational consistency in all aspects of communication.
  • Collaborating with marketing to develop the advertising, marketing and promotion plans.
  • Collaborating with investor relations to provide support and consistency between external communications and shareholder communications.

Your background includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or BA and related experience required (MBA or advanced equivalent degree preferred)
  • 12+ years of corporate communications or PR agency equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience managing people, department or function required.
  • Experience leading an external communications function, preferably during an organizational transformation.
  • Experience leading a progressive communications function that leverages innovative communications platforms.
  • Strong track record of delivering impactful external communications, including message development, strategic planning and targeted communications for different platforms and audiences.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to work collaboratively with others from divers backgrounds, cultures and viewpoints.
