Title Resource Group (TRG), is seeking a National Commercial Underwriting Counsel in our Mount Laurel, NJ or Tampa, FL office. TRG is a full-service title, settlement, underwriting and vendor management services company serving real estate companies, affinity groups, corporations and financial institutions in support of residential and commercial real estate transactions.  TRG is national in scope, operating under well-known, local brands, with a wealth of experience in title and settlement services, and underwriting through Title Resources Guaranty Company (Title Resources) and other national underwriters.  We operate in 48 states and the District of Columbia and provide closing services in all 50 states.  TRG is a subsidiary of Realogy Holdings Corp., a global provider of real estate services which franchises and owns several of the industry’s leading real estate brands and brokerages. 

TRG is currently seeking a National Commercial Underwriting Counsel who will be responsible for supporting strategic and operational initiatives for developing our National Commercial Channel.  The position will be exposed to all aspects of the business working directly with the Commercial Channel President and other leadership throughout the organization. This position will help to grow this important initiative and will play a critical role in its success.

The National Commercial Underwriting Counsel is responsible for:

  • Providing national commercial underwriting leadership, guidance and support to company personnel, agents, and customer(s), regarding the issuance of title insurance commitments and policies for commercial transactions.
  • Issuing commercial underwriting standards, forms and guidelines in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Establishing and maintaining beneficial working relationships with underwriters throughout the TRG organization and other national title insurance providers.
  • Collaborating with commercial escrow teams to discuss and diplomatically resolve legal, transactional and title underwriting issues encountered on specific transactions.
  • Researching and documenting state-by-state title insurance and search requirements.
  • Managing and developing internal and external customer relationships, identifying prospective external customers, and attending marketing and industry functions to build and maintain a commercial customer base.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate and an active state bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum five years title commercial underwriting experience required, multi-state experience preferred.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, negotiation, leadership, and creative problem solving skills, as well as an ability to collaborate and act decisively.
  • Self-motivated, with an ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of title insurance and settlement services, commercial real estate transactions, and Federal and State regulations affecting the title and settlement service industries
  • Location:  Mount Laurel, NJ or Tampa, FL
